Boat Registration

Register a Boat in Delaware

In order to get your Delaware boating license, you will need to take an approved boater safety course and know the DE boating laws. If you decide to purchase your own boat, you will also need to apply for your Delaware boat registration. All motor boats in the state of Delaware are to be registered, and a copy of your boat registration card must be kept onboard at all times.

DELAWARE BOATING LAWS AND REGULATIONS

Make sure that the days you spend boating stay safe and fun by following all of the state and federal boating laws. Take an instructor-led safe boating class near you or sign up for an online class so that you know the laws pertaining to boat registration, Delaware boating license requirements, navigation, required emergency equipment, and regulatory zones or speed regulations.

IT’S NOT A FEE, IT’S A CONTRIBUTION

Boat registration is important in helping to identify lost or stolen boats and vessels in need of assistance. When you register your boat, the registration fees are applied to natural resource protection, educational programs, launch ramp maintenance, and safety initiatives.
