Coast Guard Infoline
In an effort to serve our customers, the Office of Boating Safety operates the Coast Guard Infoline, a help desk that provides information about recreational boating safety.
The Infoline hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (EST), excluding government holidays.

United States Coast Guard
There are eight Coast Guard Districts. Check the Coast Guard Web site for the office nearest you. All Coast Guard offices monitor VHF radio Channel 16 (156.8 MHz) for emergency calls.
Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary
The Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary (Pacific) includes approximately 1,400 individuals who volunteer many hours of their time in the service of marine search and rescue operations in British Columbia.
With 232 vessels at their dispatch, they participate in nearly one-third of the SAR incidents that occur along the British Columbia coast, either as the main resource or as an additional response unit. They also assist in promoting safety on British Columbia waters through a range of educational activities.
To become a volunteer one must participate in a basic qualification program and complete extensive training before commanding community-owned response vessels.
