Anglers’ Legacy Contest Winners

Anglers’ Legacy Contest Winners to be Featured on the World Fishing Network

Personalized TV Spots on WFN Promote Anglers’ Legacy and Participation in Boating and Fishing

WFN: World Fishing Network, in conjunction with the Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation (RBFF), has awarded four Anglers’ Legacy Ambassadors with their very own 30-second Anglers’ Legacy television spots. They will air on both WFN and WFN HD beginning today, and will run through the end of the summer. The WFN Anglers’ Legacy Contest, which launched in November 2008, encouraged avid boaters and anglers to “Take the Pledge” and share their stories about introducing newcomers to the sport.

The four WFN Anglers’ Legacy contest winners are:

  • Kim Henderson of Alliance, Ohio

  • Paulette Roth of Phoenix, Ariz.

  • Mitch Webb of Portland, Ore.

  • John Williams of South Elgin, Ill.

"We are thrilled that WFN will be carrying the Anglers' Legacy message to their viewers," said RBFF President and CEO Frank Peterson. "Every Ambassador has their own unique story to tell and is committed to the mission. I hope these spots inspire more boaters and anglers to take the Pledge to help grow the sport."

The contest was promoted through TV public service announcements (PSAs), Web banners and newsletter articles to encourage Ambassadors to share their stories. WFN’s judges evaluated hundreds of entries based on passion, creativity and commitment to the cause. Each personalized TV spot highlights their commitment to introducing newcomers to boating and fishing.

“We commend RBFF for their tireless effort to promote and grow the sport,” said WFN President Mark Rubinstein. “We are honored to use our multimedia platform to recognize these Ambassadors and promote this important initiative. We hope these stories will inspire other anglers to get more people on the water.”

Anglers' Legacy, a program aimed at increasing first-time fishing and boating experiences, has signed on more than 100,000 Ambassadors nationwide since its inception in May 2006. According to a 2008 survey of Ambassadors, most purchase approximately $140 in fishing tackle and equipment, $153 in boating supplies and accessories, and more than three fishing licenses which support critical fish and wildlife management efforts through the Sport Fish Restoration Program.
