Take Me Fishing Centers

RBFF’s Take Me Fishing Centers were featured at six boat, fishing and sport shows across the country in 2009. Designed to share the sport and educate consumers, the Take Me Fishing Centers featured interactive and hands-on activities, presentations and demonstrations that gave visitors the know-how to get started or improve their fishing skills.

The Take Me Fishing Centers featured two main stations:

• Take Me Fishing – Visitors surfed the Web and learned about all the great boating and fishing resources available on TakeMeFishing.org, like Little Lunkers, Fishopedia and Fishington.
• Anglers’ Legacy – Avid anglers learned how they can help conserve our nation’s aquatic resources by taking the Anglers’ Legacy Pledge and sharing the sport with a newcomer. Those who decided to “Take the Pledge” on site received a trophy fish poster and were entered into a drawing for a free rod and reel combo.

At most locations, visitors also tested their target casting skills and learned how to use different lures and bait by attending educational seminars at a giant fish tank stocked with local fish species.

This year’s last Take Me Fishing Center were featured at the following locations:

• Louisville Boat, RV & Sportshow, The 2009 show is now over. Special thanks to professional anglers Brent "Brody" Broderick, Mike DelVisco, Bill Lowen, Sondra Rankin and the Purdue, University of Louisville and Eastern Kentucky University bass fishing clubs!
• Bassmaster Classic, The 2009 show is now over. Special thanks to professional anglers Mike DelVisco, Denese Freeman and Linda Berry.
• Fred Hall’s Fishing, Tackle & Boat Show - Long Beach, The 2009 show is now over. Special thanks to professional anglers Al Keller and Ronnie Kovach and the Unemployed Fishing Club's Mike Berens and Mark Avery.
• Northwest Sportshow, The 2009 show is now over. Special thanks to professional angler Libby Hoene.
