The 2008 Take Me Fishing Center appeared at the 38th annual New Orleans Boat Show, January 9–13, 2008, which is the largest and longest-running boat show on the Gulf Coast. The Take Me Fishing Center featured four stations, a casting pond, a giant fish tank stocked with local red fish, and the Discover Boating trailer.  Consumers could:

  • Buy their fishing license
  • Learn about basic equipment
  • Promise to share the sport with someone new through AnglersLegacy.org
  • Attend educational fishing seminars
  • Learn how to cast
  • Surf the net for more than 12,000 places to boat and fish at TakeMeFishing.org
  • Challenge a friend at the boating and fishing simulators
  • Record video testimonials about their boating and fishing experiences

RBFF extends a special thanks to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and the Louisiana CCA for volunteering their time. RBFF would also like to recognize the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) for hosting the exhibit and pro anglers Jeremy Brown and Al Keller for sharing their boating and fishing knowledge and expertise. RBFF would also like to thank college anglers Cody McCrary and Justin Romero with the Ragin' Cajuns for their time and educational instruction.
