Hi Mike, I haven't shopped for a fish finder for a while and the one I own now is a sonar, gps plotter combo so I cant recommend a specific model. What I can tell you though is that I have great experiences with both Lowrance and Hummingbird fish finders over the years and looking at Bi Mart and Cabelas tells me there are a multitude of finders in and under your stated price range. Good luck with your search and let us know what you end up with. Tight Lines

Hi Mike, I have been looking for a new one too. I've been looking at the Hummingbird 570. Has two transponder frequencies one that gives a 20 degree and a 60 degree sonar cone. Lets you get a good wide angle picture of the bottom. It's only black, grey and white, but other more expensive models are color. the 570 sells for about $200. Lowrance makes one very similar and similar money.

Me again Mike, Do you fish off-shore frequently? Might want a unit that has a higher power for deeper water. The 570 is supposed to be good to about 800'. I guess that's deep enough isn't it.
The Lowrance Mark 5-x is also a good match, dual frequency, slightly smaller screen and number of pixels than the Hummingbird.
Would really like to get a trial run for both of these. Same price.

I'm looking to purchase a new fish finder, not plotter or GPS, but just a fish finder. I'm asking for advice. I wish to spend about 300-350. Any experienced help out there? You can e-mail me direct at smsaint65@msn.com or answer through here. Thanks for your help. Mike
