Hello Sidd if you are using a crankbait or spinner bait try speeding up or slowing down the speed you reel in and use a stop and go action. and when using plastic grubs or worms bounce them of the bottom of the lake/river or fish them through grass or rocky areas, it really depends on what your fishing for and the depth you are fishing, The most popular rig for plastic baits are the California rig and the Texas Rig. hope this helps a little If you have any other questions please feel free to ask..

Hi Sidd, I hope you keep at it with using artificials. may I suggest trying to re-think your view about it as being "fake" because so often just believing in your bait is half the battle and maybe just the word fake is not the way to start in believing. With that out of the way you can concentrate more on runing depths and actions you give to the lures with color choice always being factored in too. While trying to match natural food sources in the waters your fishing is important, mixing it up helps also so never get into a fixed pattern. Try diffrent combinations and profiles of artificial baits. I always fisha new bait close me where I can see how it reacts to diffrent speeds and movements and then just picture it when accually casting it. When using plastic worms I almost always rig it weedless and twitch it off the bottom and letting it fall in a natural way that triggers bites or drag and pause. You'll find weedless set ups with worms (and you can do this with a lot of stuff like lizzards and frogs) dragged accross the muck and lilly pads will trigger big fish that hide in hopes of ambush. I sure hope this helps you get into using artificials with more confidence and with confidence comes success. Best wishes to you and let us all know how your doin from time to time.

Hi I'm Sidd and I have been having trouble catching fish with fake bait. Everytime I take any live bait out fishing I always catch many fish. But I want to use fake bait more often. The only fish I have caught with a fake bait was a 5-pound bass with a plastic grub. I want to know artificial bait to use to catch bass, catfish, or other big freshwater fish.
Thanks
Sidd
