Hotspot Description:
Lake Taneycomo is the most diverse fishing lake in the country, sporting world-class rainbow and brown trout as well as bass, crappie and blue angling. And it runs right through the heart of Branson to boot. The upper lake gets its cold water from the bottom of Table Rock Lake but the lower lake stays relatively warm, just right for both coldwater and warmwater species of fish.
n 1997, the Missouri Department of Conservation designated the upper 3.5 miles of the lake a Trophy Area, assigning rules to protect rainbows so that they had time to grow to real trophies. And it has worked! Brown trout lakewide are protected till they are over 20 inches in length.
Lake Taneycomo is enjoyed by thousands of anglers each year. From novice to the avid fly fisher, she offers lots of opportunity to catch abundant, quality trout.

Hotspot Description:
NFOW, or "the North Fork" as the locals call it, is a free flowing river that is home to a wild population of very robust rainbow trout and a stocked population of brown trout in addition to variety of warm water species. The river fishes and floats more like a Rocky Mountain stream than most of its Ozark counterparts, and is best experienced when floated because long stretches of the river are not wadable or accessible from the bank. The river has a reputation for being challenging due to an abundance of technical water, but this is all relative. For an Ozark river, this is true. But if you are accustomed to technical water, the NFOW can be extremely productive. The region is very rural, but there are a few lodges, campgrounds, outfitters, and restaurants in the area.
