This place is special because of its easy access and greenback cutthroat trout. My favorite fly here is an orange PMX. The best area is closest to the parking and trailhead area. Although there are some areas that are worth exploring and a cinder path provides for an easy walk around the entire lake

This ranch is one of a kind. Daily rod fee is $85 and it's worth it if you like hooking into 25" cut-bows like the one I posted below. I caught this fine specimen on a 7 1/2 4 weight with an excellently tied Chernobyl Ant tied by Ted Meredith. This Ranch has some amazing lakes and some classic stretches of the Big Thompson River. I have been fishing the Big Thompson nearly all my life and to fish this stretch is something special. The services at this working ranch accommodate large groups and make a good wedding location. I think the value for fishermen is to stay in the bunk house so you are on site for a good breakfast before fishing. Pretty cool.

I found this wonderful fishery when visiting Santa Barbara last week. With the help of the locals, maps and the web I was able to land a 29" rainbow and many bass on wollybuggers with a brass bead head. Great Spot!

This private portion off the Big Thompson is so special. You can gain access by speaking with FloAnne of FloAnne's Cottages. The structure is great and the pressure is low. I've stayed at these cabins during Brown spawning season for 8 years in a row. It's wondrous and affordable. Also the section of public water downs stream is world class.

I have a special permit to fish the area at Button Rock. The city of Longmont issues 600 annual permits. This is the first year I have had the special access permit and I would love to hear any input on fishing the reservoir or. I have heard great stories about the section of river leading into the res. as well. Any thoughts????

Growing up on this section of the kishwaukee taught me so much. This section contains islands, slackwater from islands that no longer exist, deepcut banks, serveral bridges and a small feeder creek that comes in from the west. I've caught smallies, bullhead, channels, and an occasional pike. Great Blue Harrons nest there, which I think is a great sign.
