Hotspot Description:
pool 5 at freeport has everything u would want in a stretch of river. rip rap? sure we got it. underwater humps? u betcha. how about deep holes? yea we got that too. it really is a unique stretch of water. we have 2 major tributaries dumping in and alot of fish hold at these mouths. theres alot of shoreline transitions, anything from sand to chunk rock to huge boulders that extend into and under the water line. looking at them u cant help to imagine a giant smallie coming out from behind them to slam your bait. the depth of the water varies greatly with some water very shallow, ready to bust your prop, to very very deep and makes u wonder if u have enough anchor line. all of these combine to make a great fishery for any species you happen to be fishing for.

Buffalo Creek

Hotspot Description:
buffalo creek or "crick" as we call it here in w. pa., is a long winding rocky creek. the upper reaches are stocked with trout and have fly projects and delayed harvest as well as open trout season. depth is generally shallow riffles and runs but does have some beautiful holes that holds a variety of fish. the lower portion where it dumps into the allegheny river is a slower moving deeper pool where u will find nice chunk rock banks that were installed by the fish commission as a way to regulate erosion. now it holds a bunch of species of fish especially in early spring when all they move up searching for warmer water.
