stocking greenback trout

This past Tuesday 9/1, Several of the guides and patrons of Rocky Mountain Anglers were lucky enough to accompany Paul Kuehnel on what could be be called a religious pilgrimage for those who consider trout sacred. Paul is the President of the Boulder Fish & Game Club and probably the strongest hiker I've had the privilege to share the trail with. Starting at 11,600 ft and the former town of Rollins we descended to King Lake, one of several lakes we would visit that day and deposit in to more than 12,000 Native Greenback Cutthroat Trout. After much hard work, The greenback gods gave back with solid fishing at our final lake, Skyscraper Lake. Our packs emptied of their precious cargo and moral on high from sweet surface strikes we all made the rest of the trip back with a subtle smile on our oxygen deprived faces. For those who appreciate all things that are sacred to fishermen, this is a journey rich in tradition and felt like a religious ceremony. If you feel you have the physical skill, you can get involved by contacting the shop.
