I don't know if I've ever tried Case pork roll, but if that's the Non-Taylor Ham that I often times get served to me when I'm outside of the 10 mile radius from where I live, then I absolutely despise it! Here's my take on Taylor Ham/Pork Roll. From my NJ diner experiences, and I've had a LOT of them, I've noticed that Taylor Ham is popular in northeastern NJ and the further South, West or North you get away form the Newark area, the more people refer to it as Pork Roll. In fact, here in my area, you'll ONLY find Taylor Ham and the diners outside of northeastern NJ ONLY serve other kinds of Pork Roll. Eventually, once you cross over into Upstate NY, Eastern PA or anywhere south of the Jersey shore they've never ever heard of Pork Roll OR Taylor Ham. So if you kind of visualize this situation on a map of the east coast, I think the proof is conclusive that Taylor Ham is the TRUE pork roll and everything else is just an imitation. Wikipedia even backs me up on this, for whatever that's worth. Plus if you cook Taylor Ham side by side with any other brand of pork roll, you'll notice 2 things. 1-Non-Taylor brands have a rubbery, very processed texture to them and 2-Non-Taylor Ham burn very easily. You're from Pennington, Western NJ, so I'm not surprised that the Pork Roll you eat isn't Taylor Ham. In fact I work right off route 78 in New Providence and the diners there serve non-Taylor Ham too. So like I said to start this rant, haha, I'm not sure if the Non-Taylor Ham I keep referring to here is necessarily Case, but if it IS then I'm willing to drive out to Pennington and leave a loaf of Taylor on your steps JUST so you could experience the difference of eating REAL pork roll. Anyhows, nice to meet you and no I'm not crazy, I'm just passionate about my Taylor Ham haha.
