Mike, I'm new to Fishington. I read that you wanted to start a fishing club for kids. All I can say is you are doing it like I did it. I loved fishing as a kid. My friends and I went all the time. When my son was small I took him fishing occasionaly. As he reached about 9 or 10 years old. We both got hip boots, vests and whatever we needed for trout fishing. He liked to fish and I loved taking him. As he got older he got 3 or 4 of his friends interested in fishing. That sort of became their fishing club. They would spend a good part of the summers fishing. They were into video games. But, fishing seemed to come first. I would sometimes fish with them a little when I would pick them up. My son still would go with me anytime. If your kids enjoy it. Friends will too. I could say. Lets go fishing anytime of day or night any type of weather and he says . Lets go. He is now a senior in High school. He plays lacrosse and footbal. But, still can't wait to fish. He has about 10 of his H.S. friends fishing with him now. It feels great when your son asks you to go fishing. I'm going to be 50. He is 17 and we still spend alot of time together fishing. I could be 90 years old and unable to walk. But, this is a sport that I could probably still do with him. Thanks, Gerard

Hopefully I will get another chance to catch some more on the first weekend of May. We have scheduled a family camping trip for the weekend where we will do some crappie fishing along with some major cat fishing. If we catch some more big ones I will post them so you can check them out.

That's great! When the little guy starts fishing, make sure you upload photos and then add them to the Kids Fishing Hall of Fame group.

Good luck with the crappies, I'm heading over to Hoover for Saugeye this weekend... I hope.

man crickets and minnows is all i use for crappie ive tried jigs with some success but only with a cricket or minnow i don't know if you use a slip bobber or not but it really helps control the depth the biggest factor i find is finding the depth there at sometimes it takes ten minute sometime an hour but trying different depths will work for you the majority of my crappie have benn cought in 5 to 10 ft. of water but its different for every lake .once you hook a crappie stay there many times i have caught one to five and then nothing for a half an hour sometimes an hour then theyll bite again after that time they travel and feed in a school and seems like they travel in big circles hunting food and always come back to the same spot for more crappie tips ask crappie ben from ohio look for him on freinds or get him off my profile i'm sure he can help if i didn't
