Kokanee Salmon Day set for Sept. 19 Manila -- If you visit Sheep Creek to see kokanee salmon on Sept. 19, make sure and bring binoculars or a spotting scope with you. You might see some bighorn sheep too! The Utah Division of Wildlife Resource’s annual Kokanee Salmon Day will be held Sept. 19, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is free, and the viewing site is easy to get to. Sheep Creek is about six miles south of Manila. The viewing site is at the Scenic Byway turnout where Sheep Creek crosses under Route 44. New Life for Cottonwood Reservoir - Another Utah Water Receives Tiger Muskies After several years of unsure water conditions because of repair work on its dam, the future of fishing at Cottonwood Reservoir is looking brighter than ever. The dam has been repaired, and fisheries biologists with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR) have stocked smallmouth bass and tiger muskie into this reservoir located in the desert north of Gushar. There are some pretty major boating changes at Lake Powell - the ramps are now closed at night to help protect the lake from invasive mussels.
