Some times, I would like to fish from a boat but when you do that, you don't meet the interesting people that are on the shore. Where I fish, there is a public pier and close by to it there is an Alanon group meeting place. Being a recovering alcoholic myself, it's fun to swap stories with them.

I used to fish from the shore for years until I got my first boat. There are times when it can be exciting and even rewarding. Many times if you are good, you can sneak up on big fish that other anglers can't get to. Right now I have something on my site you may be interested in as well. It is for anglers who dont have a boat but want to fish tournaments in their own area on their own time and win cash. It is a great opportunity for shorebound anglers to compete and win big bucks on a variety of species. If you want to take a look just stop by my site and click on cash tournaments. I do the same thing but I'll use a brush hog or tube. With the spawn going in Ohio right now, a friend and I have decided we were going to pull out our waders and hit the rivers feeding into the local lakes. We noticed last week a river feeding one of our favorite spots was loaded with good sized bass. Love spawn, their so FAT. We never keep them though, got to let them lay those eggs!

Call it stuck on shore or ground pounding, its tough! I wish the fishing mags & even this site would help a brother out with some advice. My one tip that I use that gets some action on a bass pond is to dead stick a pole baited with a saltwater bottom/fluke rig. I fish 2 live minnows on this while I work my lures. It works about 50% of the time but I love to do this when I have kids with me. Might not sound sporting but you end up with bass, cats or sunnies & let the kids reel them in. I was a saltwater guy but I live in MO. now trying to learn. JFB
