Kayak fishing has become "the new great thing" in fishing. Even though kayak anglers have been around a long time, the popularity of kayak fishing has exploded the past couple of years. I just read of a kayak that was rigged with every conceivable option, including a livewell, for a price of a little more than $6,000! Most fishing kayaks run $1K to $2K nicely outfitted which makes them price accessible. The lure has been their versatility, ease of transport, storage and maintenance, and effectiveness as a fishing platform. Everything from marlin to trout have been landed in these wonderful little fishing boats. Kayak anglers will find a tremendous amount of support and community in their ranks. Kayak fishing magazines, websites, stores, rods and gear have all sprung up in response to the growing cadre of anglers who prefer a kayak to other types of boats. As is the case with all boating...safety first. Always wear your pfd (life vest) and let someone know where you're going and when you intend to be back (float plan). Good fishing and safe boating!

ocean kayak has been the most popular, although hobie is gaining popularity here in No Cal. I fish from a Wilderness Systems Ocean kayak (Trident) has a rod pod and a hatch for your fish finder.
