Astoria was great. Saturday was slow. We brought seven salmon to the boat. Six had adipose fins, one we knocked on the head. Sunday was a whole different story. Four Chinook ranging 19 to 26 pounds and six coho from eight to thirteen pounds. Overall not a bad weekend. It's always a great time when that group gets together!

Just got back from a fantastic week in Alaska. Caught some great fish, met some incredible people, made some lifelong friends. A guy couldn't ask for any more than that! Thank You Jeff for arranging the trip and making me a part of it!

Soldotna in the morning! Hope to have stories and pics in a week or so.

Less than two weeks 'til we're fishing in Alaska! I feel like a kid at Christmas. What a way to kick off Fall salmon fishing.

Spent the weekend up at Blue River Reservoir with all my sons , my brother and his family, and my Mom. Fishing was pretty good but nothing to brag about. Had a great time in a great place though, and the granddaughter got to catch fish.

Fished Hills Creek Reservoir again yesterday with my son Skyler and his pal Ty Nichols (Ty's Predator Calls). Same results as last time but we pulled off a little earlier 'cause the thunderheads were building and we didn't want to get caught in a lightning storm. No big fish but lots of keeper size. Actually kept a mess this time so I could smoke up a batch. Looking forward to next time!

Fished Hills Creek Reservoir the last weekend in April with my son Lane and friend Gerald. No big fish but we boated around fifty or so fish. It was a beautiful day and any day on the water is soooo relaxing. Looking forward to our next opportunity for some boat time.

FAW Derby results were the same for me. The team skippered by Jeff Johnson(Johnson Unit) boated two nice 50" class keepers and won top team honors. Jeff's 53" fish won him the custom Lamiglas sturgeon rod. Lane and I caught a mess of shakers but we could not top 32". It was a beautiful weekend on the river though, much nicer than the wind and rain the previous week. Thanks to Jamie Standifer and David Dukes for the invite. If invited we will gladly fish again next year!

Just three more get ups and we'll be heading for Freds Marina and the FAW Sturgeon derby. Just two man teams for this one. I'll be fishing with my oldest son, Lane. It's going to be a great time

Nasty weather and slow fishing provided for no pictures from the Johnson Unit Sturgeon Derby. Only three keeper fish were checked in for all teams combined. Winning team, captained by Jamie Standifer, caught two keepers about fifteen minutes apart. The tournament organizers son who is only 10 or 11 caught the only other keeper of the entire derby. Congratulations team Standifer, we'll see you next week at the FAW derby!
