Location: CO, Profile Manager: T.J. Created: April 13th, 2009 Description: I have a special permit to fish the area at Button Rock. The city of Longmont issues 600 annual permits. This is the first year I have had the special access permit and I would love to hear any input on fishing the reservoir or. I was able to spend over 7 1/2 hours fishing both the resevoir and the 1 1/2 miles of tailwaters to the parking area off CR81.
I arrived 12pm and was able to hike up to the rim of the res. in 40 min. I stopped once for the world's largest mist machine. The pipe that releases water from the dam creates a constant mist for 50 feet or more.
The strech of river from the parking lot to dam has some structure that will make you abandon any desire to continue on to the reservoir, but it's worth it.
