In response to your question about catching Red Drum from shore, You might try the forum Pierandsurf.com They are dedicated to fishing from shore. I mostly fish out of a kayak. Sandbridge in Virginia and the Outer Banks of North Carolina are two places that come to mind. Willoughby Spit in Norfok would be another.
