My Anglers’ Legacy

Who got me involved in fishing:
I am the youngest of six children. Our whole family enjoyed fishing on the banks of the Ashley River in the 1950's. Our favorite site was called Camp Gregg located where Ashley Phosphate Road crossed Dorchester Road (dirt roads at the time). A logger's road allow you access to the Ashley River and over night camping on the river banks. We caught lots of redfish (we called them "spot-tail bass"). Usually we would eat what we caught and cleaned. It was a wonderful family event.

Favorite Fishing Story:
My favorite fishing stories are happening the recent years since my grandchildren have become old enough to go fishing. Since we often catch our own bait when inshore fishing, my 8-yr. old grandson (Kristofer) has learned to throw a 3-ft. circular cast net and recently caught fishing size shrimp, finger mullet, and mud minnows. Although we only catch one or two redfish, speckled trout, and/or flounder at a time, the better days are ahead of us. His 6-yr. old cousin (Luke) is also trying to throw his net. Fun times being together!!!

Best Fishing Joke:
I ate so much fish tonight I'm breathing through my cheeks!!!
