My Anglers’ Legacy

Dave Woodring is proud to be a part of the Anglers’ Legacy.
Who got me involved in fishing:
My grandpa McCoy and my grandpa Woodring were both instrumental in getting me started in fishing. They were both different in their approach too. Grandpa McCoy was a trout fisherman mostly and had a great passion for it. He fished the rivers and streams of Pennsylvania and West Virginia. I learned to crall on my belly to get one shot, maybe, at a native brook or brown trout. Once in a while a beautiful rainbow could be fooled. We ate what we caught, slept in a tent and cooked on a fire. Grandpa Woodring was a lake fisherman. I lived in NE Ohio then so we fished Lake Erie, Pymatuning and the Grand river. We caught walleye, pearch, small mouth, northern pike, musky and big cat fish. I learned how to fish with live bait as well as artificial lures. Presintation was very important to him. I also became very good at taking a birds nest out of my flueger reel. I'm sure you old timers remember how don't you. LOL. I saw my first baled eagle while fishing in Canada with him. Times were much simpler then and folks had more time to spend with the youngsters. I miss them both.Favorite Fishing Story:
My first trout. My first walleye, My first northern. My boys and their first fish. I have so many it's hard to pick just one.

Hi fellas, and ladies too. I almost forgot. I just moved permanently to the Victoria Texas area and sure would like to find some fishin buddies. I've fished deep water out of Port Aransas for many years but would like to find some places to catch some crappy and cat fish. I also like to fish for reds and specs too. I guess I just like fishin period. If ya think ya might want to help an ol boy out, I'd sure take you up on it. Thanks, Dave.
