Who got me involved in fishing:
My grandfather used to allways take the grandkids fishing when we were young. I was the oldest so I got to drive as well as CLEAN the boat. Even though he had all kinds of fishing trophies, we never usually would catch fish. But, it was just fun being out on the water.
Favorite Fishing Story:
December 2008, I was following a flat boat around a curve and grounded out on a oyster reef, my fault I was fishing a new area and should have known better, having just dumped 3K in a new lower unit. A crew boat got stuck trying to pull us out.
Long story, an airboat pulled us out. It was my first time in an air boat how cool.
Best Fishing Joke:
Last weekend, I went for a walk on an old trail in the woods behind my grandparents farm. It was always one of my favorite quiet spots, and ran by a large pond; really quite a serene place to be alone and collect your thoughts. As I walked, I listened to the occasional fish splash in the water, the birds chirping overhead, squirrels running around in the fallen leaves. I needed the relaxation and the time to collect my thoughts:
That's when I noticed something that seemed to put much of life in perspective. I noticed a squirrel sitting on top of a tree stump that sat about halfway in the water, eating an acorn. Suddenly, the biggest fish I'd ever seen came up out of the water and ate the squirrel. My grandfather and I had seen this happen before, so I really didn't think anything of it.... until I saw the fish come back up and put another acorn on top of the stump.
