Enthusiastic imbiber of single malt scotch.Favorite Species of Fish: Smallmouth bass will always be number one for me.
I have fished from Newfoundland to Alaska, mostly in pursuit of pike, walleye, salmon,bass and brook trout.
I'm now trying to learn as much about crappie,bluegills and white and yellow perch as i know about smallmouth which i have pursued for 60 years.
Favorite Tackle: Light spinning gear though i have LOTS of tackle and use what conditions dictate. Number of Anglers Invited: 0

I have no idea how to navigate this site ,but was notified that you had posted me and found you on my profile page.
I have not fished the Finger Lakes but find smallmouth pretty much the same anywhere i do fish them. Probably you are fishing the banks therefore out of the wrong side of the boat!
Not to oversimplify, but greenies as you call them are VERY different fish .
If you are enjoying pretty good success on largemouth you are 180 degrees wrong for smallies most of the time.
As a primer i strongly recommend you get a copy of the In Fisherman bass (smallmouth) handbook of strategies. Best book ever written on smallmouth fishing as it concentrates on the fish and the fishes' response to it's environment rather than on tackle.
If you have a specific question you want me t address feel free to ask but as you understand i won't live long enough to type out what i have learned in 60 years of chasing sm bass.

Dick, I'd love to know all that you do about smallies. I live in the Finger Lakes region of NY and I catch more green bass than I do bronzebacks and I'd like to change that.
