Public access is the John R. Bettis boat landing off Railroad Avenue in Hanahan, SC (near North Charleston) and is located behind Trident Technical College. From Highway 52/Rivers Avenue, turn onto Maybeline Road. Veer to the right just after crossing railroad tracks (onto Railroad Avenue). Turn left just past the ball fields onto Bettis Boat Landing Road. Boat landing and small dock located at the end of the road, along with entrance to short nature trail.
Please note that the reservoir has a very healthy population of alligators! While good for fishing, I do not recommend entering the water and allowing children and pets into the water or on the banks!Community Rating: Community Rating:

Good ramp to launch on but it has been VERY crowded every time I've gone. It's a real small lake so you can't run wide open most of the time due to all the boat traffic.
LOTS of gaters so I don't recomend swimming at all. Saw one around every corner it seemed like.
Haven't found any secret spots to brag about fishing yet, but now that my boat is working right I'll be out there looking a lot more often.

I agree with you Huff66! I don't have a boat so I'm not familiar with fishing other than the from the boat ramp and I've yet to catch anything. I've even been just before dawn and not had any success...
You're absolutely right about the gators... there are plenty so if I hear someone heading there I give 'em the heads up no swimming for them, their kids or their pets...
