Who got me involved in fishing:
My dad.
Favorite Fishing Story:
My dad was diagnosed with leukemia when I was 6 years old. On July 15, 1982, dad took me fishing for my 10th birthday. Normally, my older brother would go with us, but this time it was just me and him. We had a good day catching some nice bluegills using cane poles, the first time I ever fished with one. The day didn't mean that much to me then, but the following month, on August 29th, he passed away; it was the last time he got to go fishing. I remember that he let me do alot of the rowing, I thought that he was just trying to tire me out. It was only later in life that I realized that he was just too weak to do it. It means so much to me to know that even though he didn't feel very well, he still wanted to spend my birthday with me out on the lake. Dad always made the time to spend with me. Now 25 years later, I get to pass on the love of fishing with my 2 daughters. I'll never forget the time either of them caught their first bass. Thanks, Dad, for giving me the gift of your love and time and for sharing your love of fishing with a 10-year-old kid and teaching me the greatest lesson of my life; TIME IS NOT SOMETHING YOU SPEND, IT'S SOMETHING YOU INVEST.
Best Fishing Joke:
Elders Jay and Gene were fishing on the side of the road. They made a sign saying "The End is Near! Turn yourself around now before it's too late!", and showed it to each passing car.
One driver that passed didn't appreciate the sign and shouted, "Leave us alone you religious nuts!"
All of a sudden they heard a big splash.
Gene grinned at Jay. "Do you think we should just put up a sign that says: 'Bridge Out' instead?"
