Crappie season is in full swing at Navajo Lake! While the fishing started a few weeks ago with the crappie in the canyons and in the mouths of the creeks such a La Jara, Bancos and Euls Canyons, they now have begun to stage for spawn and even have begun the spawn in some sections of the lake. The usual hotspots for crappie such as structure like docks, boat slips, rockie points etc. are starting to come alive. Last weekmy son came up to the lake for a fishing trip and we never left our boat slip, catching our limit for 2 days straight. I also caught a 33" northern pike and had my crappie tackle broken by his big brother! Come on out the fishin's fine

Hey Pappybo, you have a fan of Navajo Lake now. I live north of Aztec, but fish Navajo all the time. Great small mouth and large mouth. Hope to see you out there one day! Kellie.

I live on Navajo Lake Resevoir and am surprised that there are no other fans of the lake listed. There are plenty of both warm and cold water species in this lake and since it is the 2nd largest body in New Mexico (Elephant Butte is #1) it is a very popular lake with people from NM and Colo. both

Pike fishing is picking up on the North end of the lake. I've seen many fish over 30 inches and several over 40 inches. The bass have been active as well. The angler who has the slip across from mine caught one largemouth that was 15" long and another that was 16 1/2" long just las week (07/15/09). So quit making excuses and get out on the lake! I'll see you on the water, and don't forget to be courteous and eco-friendly, your fishing depends on it.
