About You:	My wife and I are retired and live in a remote area of northern New Mexico. The Lake is surrounded by State and Bureau of Land Management land so you can't buy waterfront property. Hence, we keep our 22' pontoon boat in a boat slip at the nearest marina. We spend most of our time on board the boat during the summer, from May till November, fishing and camping and exploring different creeks, coves and other fishin' holes on the Lake.
Favorite Activities:	Fishing, camping, travelling in our RV and photography.
Favorite Species of Fish:	I really like fishing for crappie and trout, both of which are abundant in Navajo Lake and the San Juan river, but trolling kokonee salmon during summer months and snagging those same salmon in the fall is great fun and just as great eating. I was raised on the Gulf Coast, so redfish and trout are probably my alltime favorites.
Favorite Tackle:	I use light to medium spinning tackle most of the time for fishing fresh water lakes and streams. When I get the oppurtunity to fish salt water I like a good baitcasting setup such as a Garcia 6000 and 6 1/2 medium action pole.

My Anglers’ Legacy

Who got me involved in fishing:
I'm not really sure who started me fishing. I remember going down to the boat dock in front of our cabin on Tennessee Lake when I was 3 with both my Mom and Dad. I don't suppose it really matters, because those memories are still with me as I turn 60. I grew up fishing with my parents, espessially my Dad in both salt water and fresh water and have carried it with me always.

Favorite Fishing Story:
My favorite fishing story is one I remember when I was about 5. My dad had had an industrial accident where he broke his back and was out of work for about a year. We fished almost every day and really had a lot of fun trying out new fishin' holes all around where we lived. One day, we were fishing in a canal along with several others. I was using a cane pole and fishing "on top" with a worm. I caught a fish the locals called a buffalo. I was very proud of my catch since no one else had caught anything, and I re-hooked the fish on my line and caught it again. Dad told me to put it on the stringer and keep fishing. Instead, I waited a few minutes and re-caught that same fish again. This continued until the new wore off and I got tired of the game. By this time there were several fishermen around our area trying to get some of the luck to wipe off on them. I proceeded to move up the bank and ate all the lunch my dad had brought along with the cookies he had brought for snack. When he decided we'd had enough fun for one day and pulled up the ol' stringer with one measley fish he turned and looked at all the people fishing then checked out the lunch box he started laughing and sat down becide me and drank the last sip of coffee from the thermos and a couple of saltine crackers I had left for him and enjoyed the fishing chaos along the bank as everyone tried to take our place for the hottest fishing on the canal. What a day!

Hey Pappy-
My Father's good freind was a guy by the name of Pappy Boyington and was in the Marines, gotta love that name! I just got back with my unit and have just got orders to Colorado Springs, as a matter of fact, we just got the boxes moved in (I can not say that we are yet). I will be at Fort Carson and would love to 'Hook' up with ya. I have spend the past 23 years with the navy and am going to spend my last 3 getting to be a Father to the last three kids I have at home. I am figuring that it is past time to get them into fishing too. I'll be in touch (as soon as I figure out all this web based interaction). You take care and have a Blessed Holiday Season!
