Favorite Fishing Story:
It had been a lean summer and fall was creeping in, although slowly. My youngest son, Johnny, and I were at the Fox chain of lakes in Northern Illinois in our 14' flat bottom and it had started to drizzle. Being late September with overcast skys that morning we had dressed warm and brought our rain gear so we were prepared. We shoved off at Bluff Lake just before sunup. Observing the no wake signs we traveled south on the fox river channels over Spring Lake, back on the channels and headed toward Petit Lake. Taking the right fork we anchord just shy of Petit Lake amongst fallen timber and overhanging bushes. Useing slip bobbers, no. 8 aberdeens and wax worms we had our 25 per bluegill limits within 2 hours. Afterward it was just a matter of culling our livewell for the smaller ones and releasing the rest.
Both of my sons and I had many experiences similar to this one. On Lake Michigan catching yellow perch. The Illinois River and stripped bass. Many local ponds and yellow strippers. All memorable experiences.
