Favorite Fishing Story:
My dad bought his first fly rod so as to fish for bass and bluegill with popping bugs, sometime in the early 1950's, when I was about 9 or 10 yrs. old. I was strictly forbidden to touch his new rod. We used only cane poles in those days ! One day I sneaked out with his rod and walked down to my grandfathers stock pond and wouldn't you know it, I caught a HUGE bass. I got so excited I grabbed the 2 1/2 pound fish and the fly rod and ran up the hill to the house, yelling and screaming at the top of my voice, not thinking of the consequence when my dad saw the fly rod in my hand. Of course my dad had a huge smile of pride on his face when he saw the fish. He still couldn't erase that smile as he tanned my rear end for taking his new rod. I'm sure there is a lesson in there somewhere !
