This past Tuesday 9/1, Several of the guides and patrons of Rocky Mountain Anglers were lucky enough to accompany Paul Kuehnel on what could be be called a religious pilgrimage for those who consider trout sacred. Paul is the President of the Boulder Fish & Game Club and probably the strongest hiker I've had the privilege to share the trail with. Starting at 11,600 ft and the former town of Rollins we descended to King Lake, one of several lakes we would visit that day and deposit in to more than 12,000 Native Greenback Cutthroat Trout. After much hard work, The greenback gods gave back with solid fishing at our final lake, Skyscraper Lake. Our packs emptied of their precious cargo and moral on high from sweet surface strikes we all made the rest of the trip back with a subtle smile on our oxygen deprived faces. For those who appreciate all things that are sacred to fishermen, this is a journey rich in tradition and felt like a religious ceremony. If you feel you have the physical skill, you can get involved by contacting the shop.

Holy Cow! I won the day at a recent guide orientation at a guest ranch. I was the rookie so it felt good to produce nicest fish of the day. Check out what the said :

I got to fish Sylvandale Guest Ranch which is one of a kind. Daily rod fee is $85 and it's worth it if you like hooking into 25" cut-bows like the one I posted below. I caught this fine specimen on a 7 1/2 4 weight with an excellently tied Chernobyl Ant tied by Ted Meredith. This Ranch has some amazing lakes and some classic stretches of the Big Thompson River. I have been fishing the Big Thompson nearly all my life and to fish this stretch is something special. The services at this working ranch accommodate large groups and make a good wedding location. I think the value for fishermen is to stay in the bunk house so you are on site for a good breakfast before fishing. Pretty cool.

I was able to plan a successful fishing moment in the far away land of California. I will mark it as Hotspot and a fishing report since this site helped plan the outing.
