The Coastal Alabama Restoration Project
Using oyster shells and reef balls, the Coastal Alabama Restoration Project is creating submerged breakwater oyster reefs along Bayou LaBarre and Alabama Port. The project's goals are to restore and improve shoreline habitat, increase protection against storms and erosion, improve water quality and provide more for commercial and recreational fishing opportunities.
