  • State Programs

    • 420 Race Team

      This class focuses on improving racing skills and frequently attending regattas.

    • Advanced Navigation

      This course teaches advanced navigation.

    • Basic Sailing Course

      A complete learn-to-sail course, covering everything from basic sailing skills, terminology and rigging, to safety and an overall appreciation for the marine environment.

    • Beginner A's, B's and C's

      Given the ages in our morning session, our program combines sailing lessons with fun-day activities to insure a proper balance of learning and fun.

    • Green Marine Education

      One day class qualifies students for their Connecticut Boat and Personal Watercraft Certificate. Private classes also available at your home, organization, or facility. Classes throughout Connecticut.

    • Intermediate A's, B's and C's

      Sailors with more experience are encouraged to compete in regattas around Long Island Sound.

    • Intermediate Sailing Course

      Includes sail theory, advanced boat handling skills, crew overboard recovery and much more.

    • Junior Club420 or Pixel

      In these classes sailors learn to sail as a team, alternating as either Skipper or Crew, handling a main sail and jib.

    • Junior Sailing's Big-Boat "PHRF" Racing Team

      Sailors learn navigational skills in preparation for a required JSA Navigation Test, participate in a Safety-at-Sea seminar, and at the end of the summer compete in 3 big-boat regattas including the Beach Point Overnight Race.

    • Laser & Laser Radial

      This class is for intermediate or advanced racers ages 14 to 17.

    • Laser Race Team

      The focus is on perfecting boat handling skills; learning advanced racing techniques and rules, as well as racing strategy.

    • Learn From The Dolphins

      This course covers all aspects of safe boating and Personal Watercraft.

    • Opti I

      The course is for beginners who have little or no sailing experience, as well as for children who participated in the Sprite Optimist program and are of required minimum age.

    • Opti II

      These sailors are generally a little older than the Opti I sailors, have one or two years of experience sailing in an Opti, as well as a good knowledge of basic sailing, water safety, rigging and the points of sail.

    • Opti Race Team

      This class will focus on advanced boat handling skills, learn and practice race tactics and rules.

    • Pixel

      This class is ideal as a transition boat for junior sailors ready to learn about jibs and symmetrical spinnakers.

    • Racing Club420s

      The Racing Club420 program picks up where the Non-Racing program ends, teaching skipper and crew the use of spinnakers and trapeze, and tactics used in team racing.

    • Racing Optimist

      Sailors in this program compete in home and away regattas.

    • Safe Boating America

      Take a Boating Course! GET YOUR BOATING CERTIFICATION (aka boating license jetski license) IN ONE DAY OR TWO EVENINGS! Choose from classes in Nassau and Suffolk Long Island, Manhattan NYC, Queens Staten Island, Brooklyn, Stamford, Hartford Connecticut, New Jersey and Massachusetts. Also in Freeport, Huntington, Oyster Bay, Manhasset, Port Washington, Islip, Port Jefferson, Stamford, Valley Stream, Westhampton and Babylon, among other locations- or have a private class in the privacy of your own home.Our courses cover EVERYTHING YOU NEED to get on the water by Power Boat, Sail and PWC/Jetski including Navigation, Rules of the Road, Personal Watercraft, Safe Operation, Emergencies- among many other things you need to know by law and for the safety of your vessel, your passengers and your own personal safety. Get your State Boating License. You'll receive a waterproof plastic card from the State of New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and New Jersey upon successful completion of this course.     • Trout Unlimited Flyfishing School

      The longest-running, most comprehensive, fly fishing school in the United States. Run by all-volunteer staff of certified and master instructors, the Michigan Council of Trout Unlimited Fly-fishing School takes place over 3 days near Traverse City, Michigan, and includes casting, landing fish, knots, bugs, fly-tying, reading the water, etiquette and more. All levels covered (beginner, intermediate, advanced). Age 12 and up.
