The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is starting up the Kid’s Fishing Clinics in Cedar Key for ages 6-15 beginning June 24th and the 25th, and will follow every Tuesday and Thursday through July. The clinics begin at 9 a.m. and close at 2 p.m. and are located at the Senator George Kirkpatrick Marine Lab.
All participants will learn, but not limited to, fishing basics, the importance of clean habitats and habitat identification, proper catch and release techniques, fish identification, and of course, spend some time fishing! Children between the ages of 6-8 will be required a chaperone to attend the entire program. Students and chaperones should bring their own lunch, and are encouraged to bring their own sunscreen, hat, and personal fishing gear, although fishing gear for the program will be provided. Upon completion of the class, students will receive a rod, reel, and tackle box complete with tackle, thanks to donations from Fish Florida.
