A box of chocolates or flowers won’t last very long, but memories made on the water will last forever. Check out this list of Valentine’s Day boating fun ideas that can help you plan a romantic experience for your special someone this month.
Venture off on a relaxing boat ride to one of your favorite waterfront restaurants and enjoy a romantic dinner together. If you want to sip on a couple of celebratory sunset cocktails or bar dock hop while you’re in route, hire a professional captain to transport you and your date safely.
Rent canoes to take in the soothing sights and sounds of nature as you both paddle down a secluded river or stream. Some relaxing one-on-one time can do wonders for any relationship. Be sure to pack some of your date’s favorite snacks for a day of Valentine’s Day boating fun. Trail mix, turkey jerky, or cheese and crackers are all good options.
Whether you decide to take out your own boat or book a sunset cruise charter, watching a sunset with the one you love always equals romance on the water. If you take your own boat out, be sure to do a little pre-trip homework to make sure you can find a beautiful, unobstructed spot to watch the sun descend in the sky.
A little bit of healthy competition is good for a relationship… especially if it involves fresh air and fishing. Grab your fishing rods and hit your favorite hot spots. Decide if you’ll practice catch and release or let the winner cook up a fresh Valentine’s Day dinner.
Pack a picnic lunch and boat to a beautiful state park with your sweetie. In Southwest Florida, a few favorite picnic spots you can visit by boat are Lover’s Key State Park, Cayo Costa State Park, and Stamp Pass Beach State Park. Bring along something romantic to serve as a centerpiece for your picnic setting, such as flowers or a candle.
Nothing says romance on the water like literally sailing off into the sunset. Charter a sailboat for an evening and do just that!
Before you head off on a Valentine’s Day boating or fishing adventure, make sure you have your fishing license and boat registration along with you.
