Spoil Dad With These 5 Fishing Father's Day Gifts

He provided endless hours of patient instruction, and ecstatically cheered you on when you reeled in your #FirstCatch. There's no question about it, your Dad couldn't have been prouder when you landed your first fish all on your own. Since then, you've probably been fishing together dozens, perhaps even hundreds of times.

With Father's Day coming up, you have the opportunity to show Dad just how much those cherished memories mean to you by giving him a creative fishing-related Father's Day gift. Need some ideas? I've got you covered! Below are five Father's Day gifts that every angling Dad will appreciate.

  1. Tickets to a local boat show. Boat shows are a great way for Dad to check out all of the latest boat models, boat accessories, engines, electronics and dock equipment. You can surprise Dad by planning ahead and buying him tickets to an upcoming local boat show in your area. Find a list of upcoming boat shows and events, then call the boat show management office to ask about purchasing advance tickets by phone or online.

  2. Gift certificate for a fishing charter. Get Dad out on the water with his favorite fishing charter captain or fishing guide. Ask the fishing charter captain if they are able to provide a printed gift certificate so that you can put it inside of his Father's Day card. Then, maybe if you're really lucky, Dad will take you along when he decides to cash it in.

  3. Gas card. Dads can always use a gas card. Gas cards can be purchased at many local gas stations and large marinas. Regardless of whether he decides to use it for his boat or for his truck (if he's planning to drive a few hours to go on a long-distance fishing trip), a gas card will come in handy.

  4. Donation to Dads Give Back. Dads often prefer to receive non–traditional gifts, so help your Dad celebrate his day in a different way -- by giving back to the future generation of anglers and supporting the idea of conservation through participation. Kids and spouses can support Dad on Father’s Day by making a donation in his name to the Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation (RBFF). Use the "Program Area" drop down box and select the "Dads Give Back" option.

  5. Father's Day Fishing Trip Coupon. Since nothing is more important than spending quality time with Dad, you can download the TakeMeFishing.org “Fishing Adventure Coupon" and let him know how much your fishing time together means to you. Give him the coupon tucked inside of a new fishing hat or roll the coupon up, and then tie it together with a ribbon and a bobber.

Now that you have five great gift ideas for Father's Day, use the TakeMeFishing.org "Places to Boat and Fish Map" to help you find the best spots in your area to take Dad fishing on Father's Day.
