The next wave of interactive, virtual tournament fishing has arrived. The Catch A Boat online game is back, with all the fun, facts and fantastic prizes of our previous virtual tournaments, with a grand prize of a Stratos boat, motor and trailer.
I love this game! I mean, where else can you test your knowledge of fishing, boating and conservation, and be rewarded with upgraded virtual equipment to boost your chances of a big catch? Where else online can you enjoy the thrill of fishing, then instantly share news of your haul with a nation’s worth of competition?
And of course, there are the prizes. Big ones. The grand prize is a boat, motor and trailer valued at $18,000. The fishing boat comes courtesy of the North American Fishing Club (NAFC), which also is offering players a free 30-day trial membership. Plus, tons of daily instant prizes of rods, reels, tackle, gift certificates and more will be given away by N’Gage, Rapala, West Marine, Plano, Gander Mountain and Ready2Fish.
Every day you go “fishing” improves your chances of winning a prize, and you can play every day (so long as you’re at least 18 years old) until the tournament ends January 10, 2011.
My guess is that for most virtual anglers, the ‘reel’ fun is in the game itself. Here’s a peek at how it works: Select a boat right for your day on the water then head to the baitshop to “shop” for equipment. You can unlock more equipment and new regions when you answer trivia questions correctly about boating, fishing and conservation. Then click “cast” to get your line in and “reel” to play the fish. If – I mean when – you catch a fish, add it to your livewell, track your haul, and post your boast on Facebook.
If you haven’t registered yet, what are you waiting for? Check out the complete rules and eligibility information, and register now.
