Engaging the Hispanic Audience During Hispanic Heritage Month

With Hispanic Heritage Month upon us, now is a great time to evaluate and tweak (or begin) your efforts to engage the Hispanic audience. The Hispanic population has reached nearly 36 million individuals ages 6+, but according to the 2018 Special Report on Fishing, only 4.2 million Hispanics went fishing in 2017. With such a huge opportunity, it’s no surprise to see organizations throughout the fishing and boating industry working to reel in this audience.

Take a look at how RBFF is making Hispanics feel more welcomed on the water and how you can, too:

  1. Why is engaging the Hispanic audience important for our industry?
  2. What are some initiatives RBFF is doing to engage this audience?
  3. What specific activities is RBFF doing for Hispanic Heritage Month?
  4. What are the 3 best ways for stakeholders to get involved today?

Kentucky Successfully Reactivates Anglers with Email

Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife Resources (KDFWR) generated $218,000 in revenue just with emails!

Earlier this summer, KDFWR sent 151,000 emails to lapsed anglers to remind them to renew their fishing license. These emails included a link to easily renew their license online, a reminder of the license year, and links to “where to fish” information and tips.

These lapsed angler emails resulted in:

  • Average open rate: 30%
  • Click-through rate: 3%
  • Total license sales: 7,203
  • Revenue generated: $218,000

The KDFWR plans to continue and expand this effort annually.

New RBFF Widget Simplifies License-Buying

More licensed anglers and registered boaters means more funding for critical conservation programs throughout the United States. With that in mind, RBFF has created an easy-to-use widget that helps bring fishing license and boat registration information to consumers on any site the widget is added to. Users can easily click their state on the map or select it from the drop down menu and be taken directly to the state agency site to purchase their license or register their boat .

This handy free tool can be embedded directly on any stakeholder website, reinforcing license purchases and boat registrations as consumers navigate your website to purchase products or learn more about fishing and boating. This widget adds to the popular Take Me Fishing Places to Fish and Boat Map powered by Fishbrain as another strong tool available for free to all RBFF stakeholders.

To learn more about the widget and to add it to your site, head to the RBFF Resource Center.
