Chequamegon Bay Kids Fishing Day

Give your youngster the thrill of catching that memorable first fish during the Northern Great Lakes Visitor Center’s 19th annual Kids’ Fishing Day June 2,from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m in Ashland, WI. The event is FREE and there will be lots of fun activities for everyone. Youngsters will be teamed up with experienced anglers ready to share their skills and biologists will share their fishing tips and techniques. Bring a pole or use one of ours. At registration, each child receives a “passport” that must be completed before he or she can begin fishing. Hands-on learning stations, each about 10 minutes long, will teach young anglers step-by-step how to fish. After completing a learning station, the child’s passport receives a stamp and the aspiring angler will be one step closer to fishing for perch, bluegill and trout in the pond. Each child will also receive a free starter tackle kit as well as prizes donated by event sponsors. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
