Pickwick Lake, Alabama

Pickwick Lake in the northwest corner of Alabama is a top June fishing destination because the blue catfish start feeding heavily during this month in preparation for the spawn. While the average sized blue catfish runs in the 10-to-15-pound range, you’ll also have opportunities to catch trophies up to 50 or 60 pounds. Pickwick Landing State Park offers nearby camping with 48 wooded campsites that are available year-round.

Tigertail Beach, Florida

If you haven’t had the opportunity to fish for snook in Southwest Florida, you won’t want to miss out on the exceptional late spring and summer action that takes place off Tigertail Beach on Marco Island. June fly fishing opportunities for snook along the beach will peak leading up to a full moon (use a small white baitfish pattern fly). You’ll have a 15-minute walk from the parking area to the water, but it’s well worth the hike. You can either fish in the Gulf tidal pools or cast parallel to beach and focus on the deeper troughs where baitfish gather. Public beach parking is open from 8 AM until sunset. For updated information, check with Collier County Parks & Recreation.

June Lake, California

Not only is June Lake seasonally stocked with rainbow trout (trout season starts the last Saturday of April and ends on November 15), but it’s also one of the few naturally occurring lakes in California. June Lake is listed among the June fishing hotspots because it’s possible to land a “Sierra Grand Slam”—a rainbow, brown, brook and cutthroat trout all in one day. If you plan to fish June Lake from a boat, focus on the side of the lake that runs along the edge of the road, primarily near the coves and marina areas. Shore fishing can be good near the reeds along the west side of the lake and near Boulder Lodge.

Fish Lake, Utah

As a fishery with Blue Ribbon status that provides exceptional experiences within a healthy aquatic habitat, Fish Lake is a good place to visit for June fishing trips. The most frequently targeted fish are rainbow trout, lake trout, brown trout, and tiger trout. You can fish from the shoreline, but your summer pursuits will be more productive by boat as some species head for the depths during the warmer months. There are plenty of campgrounds nearby, with Mackinaw Campground being one of the favorites.

Lake Winnebago, Wisconsin

Lake Winnebago is undoubtedly one of the top fishing locations in June for walleye. You’ll have to concentrate your fishing efforts wisely though considering the 137,708 acres of water. The lake’s shallow, fertile waters combined with prime spawning areas make it incredibly productive for walleye and prime destination for anglers who visit the state of Wisconsin. Try fishing with jigs tipped with a nightcrawler or minnow. If you want to make a weekend or family vacation out of your trip to Lake Winnebago, you can reserve a campsite at High Cliff State Park.

Use these suggestions for the best fishing spots in June to plan a summer trip and make new memories on the water with your friends or family.
