You can buy your West Virginia fishing license in person from an approved West Virginia fish and game license agent, but it is even easier to purchase your fishing license online from the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources. Once you have your WV fishing license, you can start fishing for species like smallmouth bass, rainbow trout, northern pike or muskellunge.
West Virginia fish and game agents work for the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources and are responsible for enforcing the state fishing regulations. Without fishing regulations and laws, our fish populations would become endangered or depleted. Every angler is responsible for knowing the fishing laws, so check the current set of state regulations before each trip.
Your fishing license purchase helps to protect and preserve the sport of fishing for years to come. The fees collected from West Virginia fishing licenses go toward fishery management, habitat development, endangered species programs, and conservation education.
West Virginia has its own set of fishing laws and regulations that need to be followed in order to protect their fish populations
