Four Part Fly Fishing for Beginners Course: Part 3

To many people fly-fishing for trout is the ultimate outdoor experience. It requires an intimate knowledge of trout and their stream environment. This four-session class, 4/13, 4/20, 4/27 and 5/4, is designed for those seriously interested in learning how to fly fish. Reservations are required. Call (507) 312-2308, extension 226 or email sara.holger@state.mn.us prior to 4/1 to register. Participants need fly fishing equipment by the third session. Some equipment is available on loan. Carley Bluebell Festival - Kids Trout Fishing

Come join a naturalist for an hour of fun and learning opportunities as we gear up for summer. We will be fishing from the pier on Snelling Lake and hope to hook one of Minnesota's many fish species. All equipment provided. Dress for the weather and meet at the fishing pier (one and half miles from park entrance. Plan for an additional 10 minute drive through the park). Registration is required. Women's Steelhead Fishing Clinic

Whether you are new to North Shore rainbow trout fishing or an intermediate Steelheader looking to improve technique, this one day, stream-side clinic is for you. Topics include steelhead migration, spawning, equipment, safety tips, rigging, presentation and technique with focus on fly-fishing and drift fishing with either a fly rod or spinning set up. Each angler will receive a binder of the covered information for use as a resource after the event. A Minnesota fishing license, trout stamp and your own equipment are required. This event is led by Lisa Murphy of the Minnesota Steelheader's Women on the Fly program.

Becoming an Outdoors Woman - Summer Guided Women's Sturgeon Fishing Trip

This popular fishing trip fills fast! DNR staff will discuss sturgeon biology and management Friday evening. Saturday through Sunday noon will be spent fishing in guided boats on the Rainy River. Costs include two nights lodging (two women/hotel room), guides, boats, rods and bait. Food is not included but we will eat as a group for Saturday dinner. A fishing license is required and a sturgeon tag is recommended. This class has limited space so preference will be given to women new to sturgeon fishing, or for women who bring a new woman to the program. Hosted by Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
